BUSINESS DESCIPTION

Belvedere S.p.A., founded in 1997 by the Peccioli Area Authority (Pisa), provides a great model of circular economy and sustainable development. It is a result of changes in management and the re-evaluation of the waste disposal site at Legoli, and the company has tranformed an environmentally critical site into a centre par excellence for technological innovation and the production of renewable energy.

Thanks to its avant-garde plants and zero emission processes, Belvedere S.p.A. produces clean energy from biogas. The comany is known for its unique model of democratic participation, based on a widespread share system involving citizens personally in the the governance of the company and the redistribution of economic benefits.

The resources generated are reinvested in cultural, social and infrastructural projects. Today the area also hosts an open air museum of contemporary art with over 80 works, symbolizing the relationships between the environment, culture and community that have always charcterized the vision od Belvedere S.p.A.

BIOGRAPHY

ARIANNA MERLINI

General Director of Belvedere S.p.A., she has worked for the group since 2004, covering roles of increasing responsability in the fields of personnel management, communications and the environment.

She graduated in History from the the University of Pisa, and has worked with public institutions and national cultural organizations. She has written a number of publications and articles in sector journals and magazines.

Her career development has given her a solid understanding of company management, business relations and in land management.
